I am a huge fan of high fantasy movies but Prince of Persia IS the worst movie I have seen of 2010 and will probably stay right up there. It’s simply awful. There’s just nothing good about it.

 

The feeble attempts at comedy by Alfred Molina made me cringe, like watching a drunken Aunt trying to dance at a wedding. There was one point where, stroking his ostrich and making some comments about it’s suicidal tendencies where I was close to walking out. From there it just got worse and the last half of the movie became increasingly agonizing to watch.

 

Gemma Arterton was supposedly the most beautiful woman in the world. Personally I didn’t get that and rather than finding myself attracted to her and wanting to do naughty things to her I found myself wanting to slap her. Repeatedly. The best part of the movie was when she fell to her death but alas not long afterwards she was alive and kicking and just as annoying as ever.

 

The CGI is mediocre at best and the accents are woeful, Persians with posh English twangs just didn’t do it for me. The dialogue was long-winded and I felt sorry for the kids in the audience. Many times I screamed in my head “OH SHUT UP AND GET ON WITH IT!”

 

I breathed a sigh of relief when the end credits rolled.
